2014 BMW S1000R official

After the recent leaked images of the S1000R we can now have a proper look at the 160hp Street Fighter to come from BMW.

Revealed just a few moments ago, the S1000R has between 30 and 40hp less than the S1000RR superbike, but importantly has slightly more torque, roughly 9nm. This is because BMW revised mid range and bottom end power delivery from the same 999cc inline 4 to make the S1000R more usable in everyday situations.

From an electronics point of view, the S1000R comes packed with rider aids including: ABS, Dual riding modes (rain and road), Dynamic Traction Control (DTC as optional), dynamic damping control (DDC) as well as automatic stability control (ASC).

This is currently the most advanced Street Fighter in the market, and if the S1000RR is anything to go by, probably the quickest too.
