The next Fireblade to have V4 configuration?

With Casey Stoner recently testing the Honda RCV1000R at the Twin Ring Montegi, motorcycle fans are looking forward to seeing the production racer in the hands of various privateer teams on the MotoGP grid. This V4 spec bike will be sold to privateer teams and is said to be worthy of RC213V times around the track, according to Stoner.

However  attention has once again turned to the next production fireblade. The existing Fireblade has been around for some time now and rivals such as Ducati, Kawasaki and BMW are dominating the Superstock class, but there is good news.

Just yesterday, FIM-Dorna released the official rulings for the WSBK Superbike class and it is clear that from 2015, teams are to do away with highly specialized racing machines and instead have a much more 'standard' bike on the grid. The introduction of a 'prototype' series will see expected costs range between 60 000 euros and 100 000 euros.

Essentially, Honda are expected to debut their new production superbike around February of next year, and if their latest engine layout trend is anything to go by, the next fireblade could very well be a V4. Yummy yummy yummy. They also aren't going to sit back and let the ZX10's and HP4's of the world keep winning for much longer.

If you are in the market for a superbike, just put it back in your pants and hold on till the next CBR1000RR, because it could be very special indeed, it may only go on sale towards the end of 2014 but it'll be worth the wait.
