How to build a racing Yamaha R1
In the time-lapse video below we see the Yamaha Graves team build a racing R1 from the ground up.
If only it was as easy to service your own motorcycle. Amazing what can happen when you have the right tools.
Also notice how the video fades away and then reappears after the suspension has been suspended. mmm

2014 Yamaha YZF-R1 Colors
It is suspected that the next generation R1 may feature a 3 cylinder engine along with revised swingarm and shorty style exhaust pipe from the spy image below, this is also apparent on Yamaha's MT-09 which has just been released.
However the 2014 R1 colors and official pictures have been released, nothing new here, in the meantime anyway.
Included is a 7 stage traction control and ride-by-wire. Price figures vary around the $14 000 mark.
The R1 has become somewhat of an icon thanks to a crossplane crank which creates a fantastic growl unlike traditional in-line 4 superbikes.
The new YZF-R1 is expected in the near future so it would be wise to wait for it unless you really have your heart set on the 'big bang' as it is named.
