After the success of the S1000RR many have been looking forward to the release of BMW's street fighter to add to their growing motorcycle line up for 2014. Well here are a few spy images that were taken by oliepeil.com

There is also a short video clip of the S1000R Street Fighter. It looks menacing to say the least, especially with that gargoyle like front end.

Love the S1000RR but too afraid to use its insane power on the urban roads? Well here is your answer, it still is reminiscent of the S1000RR but perhaps slightly toned down, perfect for adrenalin junkies.

2014 Honda CBR1000RR SP

The blade is back, well it was never gone, but now it comes with various additions that aim to make it a meaner track machine.

These additions are inclusive of names such as Brembo and Öhlins, and if you haven't been under a rock for the last few decades, you will know that those names are usually supplied to machines with one aim, and that is to make them quicker, here is the full spec sheet for the SP:

2014 BMW R1200GS Adventure

In South Africa, the adventure bike market is the largest and amongst the various adventure bikes available, the BMW GS range is the most popular. However in recent times, the likes of KTM, Yamaha, Triumph and even Suzuki are increasing their efforts in pursuit of an equal share of the Adventure pie, as I shall call it.

new Kawasaki Z1000 expected November

Kawasaki are planning to unveil their new Z1000 naked bike at the EICMA show in Italy on the 5th of November. So far very little information is available on the new Z however Kawaski have said that the design is based on a Sugomi concept.

Sugomi means: ' the intense aura or energy given off by a person or object of greatness and felt by the viewer'. Cool concept and if Kawasaki are anything to go  by, I am more than sure the new Z will look fantastic.

However with the recent release of the 1290 Super Duke R, Kawasaki will have to ensure that the new Z not only looks the piece but also comes equipped with the latest electronic gadgetry.

2014 KTM 1290 Super Duke R official specs

KTM have finally unveiled the 1290 Super Duke R in its final production specification. Its been a long wait for motorcycle hoonigans.

The spec sheet reads as follows:

  • 1,301cc 4 stroke v-twin
  • 108 mm bore 71 mm stroke
  • 180 bhp
  • WP 48 mm upside down forks
  • WP rear shock
  • Slipper clutch
  • Bosch combined ABS
  • Traction control (same as 1190 adventure)
  • Stability control (same as 1190 adventure)
  • 189 kg dry weight
  • 18 liter fuel capacity
  • 835 mm seat height
  • Brembo brakes all round
  • 0-200km/h in 7.2 seconds

KTM have also equipped the 1290 Super Duke R with a supermoto mode which will disable the rear ABS allowing the rear tyre to slide under persuasion from the slipper clutch or if you just want to mash the rear brake whilst approaching a traffic light.

Below is a video of the 1290 Super Duke R supposedly 'racing' a BMW S1000RR HP4

I would go so far as to say that this must be the most entertaining motorcycle ever made, yes sure superbikes and supersports are fantastically quick, however for road riding they are not perfectly adequate. The 1290 Super Duke R though looks as if it serves up entertainment in abundance combined with a serious helping of horsepower.

I have always maintained that the fastest way from point A to B in the real world is on a motard, and the most entertaining derivative has been the Super Duke. The new 1290 Super Duke R is a definite contender for most desirable motorcycle of 2013.

2014 KTM Super Duke 1290 R first pics

The latest Super Duke is only scheduled for its official unveiling in approximately 4 days, however these images have emerged thanks to Moto-Station who have spotted the first 1290 Super Duke R before its much anticipated launch.

As is expected, the official bike doesn't resemble the prototype photos to every last detail, however the 1290 R certainly looks the piece thanks to that orange and white trellis frame. Also the 1290 decals on the underside of the tail make sure that everyone behind you knows exactly what KTM you have.

There isn't much need to speculate about official specification and equipment as the launch is only in four days, however expect to see ABS, traction control as well as a power output in excess of 160hp.

Motorcycle hoonigans unite. (And ask mom for some extra pocket money).

Valentino Rossi's Moto3 team

Valentino Rossi will have his own Moto3 team as of next year. The VR46 team as it will be known, will use KTM motorcycles to compete for the 2014 title. The two riders are rumored to be Romano Fenati and Valetino's half brother Luca Marini.

The team is aimed at supporting young Italian talent. The VR46 team has partnered with Sky Italia.

Valentino's main contribution to the team will be financial thanks to his successful VR46 organisation. Seeing as I have a VR46 product in my cupboard somewhere I best support the team next year and hope they put my money to good use.

2014 Suzuki V-Strom

The Suzuki V-Strom has just been released, adding yet another competitive adventure bike into the market.
The V-Stom, as its name would hint towards, is powered by a V-twin with a capacity of 1,037cc providing 99hp and 103nm of torque.

Also Suzuki is keeping with the times by incorporating ABS and traction control, two big selling points for the adventure market.

The powerplant is loosely related to that of the TL100S and TL1000R however Suzuki have changed the pistons, cylinders, cylinder heads, crankshaft, conrods, radiator and clutch. he engine now has a 100mm bore.

Another main selling point for the V-Strom is its claimed consumption, ion a full tank (19.6 litres) you can expect a range of 480km.

The 19inch front wheel and overall lightweight design should also ensure the V-Strom is able to tackle dirt roads and sandy conditions fairly easily.

No word from Suzuki SA on prices however it is expected to cost $12, 000 in the States.

Sales are expected to be strong for this new adventure bike which will give the other adventure bikes in the market a run for their money.

2013 Kawasaki Z1000SX

The Z1000SX is Kawasaki's version of a sport tourer, a bike that you and perhaps your significant other can hop on and go explore the countryside.  For 2014 there is a variety of changes including color matching panniers, 3 way traction control and engine map selection.

As can be seen in the video, Kawasaki have included a remote shock preload adjuster. This enables the rider to change the set up during a coffee break whilst admiring the view.

The panniers are able to hold 28 litres each which equates to a helmet, very handy indeed, they have also tried to incorporate the panniers into the design of the bike more effectively so that they do not look so shwampy.

I have to also mention that the top rated comment on the video on YouTube was: '...and they're off to a threesome'. LOL.

Here in South Africa, many riders may opt for adventure bikes such as the BMW GS or Triumph Tiger explorer, as our roads are not nearly as smooth as the ones in the video, especially out in the countryside.

2014 Triumph Speed Triple R

For 2014, the Speed Triple R see's a few color alterations to inject some youth from an aesthetic point of view.

Changes include color matching belly pan and screen, red radiator cover and red pin-stripped wheels.

Color options include a Matt crystal white and a phantom black, two gorgeous colors that certainly will attract a lot of attention on the road.

Included as standard is ABS as well as Brembo Brakes and Öhlins suspension.

The Speed triple R is an extremely exciting naked bike to ride and competition includes the MV Brutale, Kawasaki Z1000, KTM Duke Super Duke and The Ducati Monster 1100.

The build quality of Triumphs is really exceptional of late and I have thoroughly enjoyed every Triumph I have ridden, they are charismatic and very entertaining, especially the Speed and Street triple.

2014 Kawasaki ZX-14R

Featuring a 1,441cc four cylinder powerhouse producing around 200hp, the ZX-14R is the fastest production motorcycle you can buy. The ZX-14R is designed for one thing and that is speed. If you're a top end kind of guy then here is your motorcycle.

The 2014 ZX-14R comes with 3 traction control settings, a slipper clutch and optional ABS. Personally I would keep traction control on at all times, I'm sure the ZX-14R will have no problems spinning up the rear if the road surface is slightly less than 100% perfect.

The base model is priced at $15, 299 and with ABS you will be set back $15, 699. Colors include flat ebony, golden blazed green, metallic spark black, or candy burnt orange, please refer to picks to decipher what I am on about.

2014 Yamaha YZF-R1 Colors

It is suspected that the next generation R1 may feature a 3 cylinder engine along with revised swingarm and shorty style exhaust pipe from the spy image below, this is also apparent on Yamaha's MT-09 which has just been released.

However the 2014 R1 colors and official pictures have been released, nothing new here, in the meantime anyway.

Included is a 7 stage traction control and ride-by-wire. Price figures vary around the $14 000 mark.

The R1 has become somewhat of an icon thanks to a crossplane crank which creates a fantastic growl unlike traditional in-line 4 superbikes.

The new YZF-R1 is expected in the near future so it would be wise to wait for it unless you really have your heart set on the 'big bang' as it is named.
